Associate Professorship, Institute for Molecular and Cellular Regulation, Gunma University
The Institute for Molecular and Cellular Regulation (IMCR), Gunma University is seeking a researcher in the field of endocrinology and metabolism to occupy one full professorship for a term of five academic years.
Overview
Approved by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), IMCR is the only basic research center in the field of endocrinology and metabolism in Japan. Responding to social demands, IMCR aims for high-quality basic medical research on lifestyle maladies such as metabolic syndrome. IMCR is also involved in many collaborative projects undertaken upon request from the scientific community. IMCR seeks one associate professor with distinguished records in basic medical research and outstanding achievements in the study of endocrinology, metabolism, and related areas. We are looking for a researcher who will study molecular mechanisms of epigenetic and transcriptional regulations of biological processes such as energy metabolism and cellular functions in the Laboratory of Epigenetics and Metabolism under the mentoring of Professor Takeshi Inagaki. We seek to understand the molecular mechanisms which will provide novel approaches for the treatment of lifestyle-related diseases such as obesity and diabetes mellitus. The main targets of our study are transcription factors and epigenetic regulatory enzymes which mediate gene expressions in response to the changes in environmental conditions. Our research is for elucidating how lifestyle affects the future development of metabolic diseases through epigenetic memory of environmental changes.
